Choreography

After seeing George Ballanchine's Nutcracker, I found myself in first position considering the sweeping ellipses of a beloved sculptor and wishing I could move in time among them-- My feet, legs, arms an extension of their steel.
While I intend to explore dance within my studio walls, there are steps outside that I am daring myself to take. The structure, discipline, and design of life drawing leads me inside The League's warm studios of midtown. While my canvases dot themselves with spaces, angles and dialogue, I will return home to pencil and charcoal if only to strengthen, or somehow locate, the aesthetic within my paintings.
This homeward journey is inspired by an ongoing fascination with the Boston School and their absolute mastery in capturing light.
Would, if I could, fit their paints inside my studio, and brighten my own days and palettes.
